Session Summary
The dilemma of polypharmacy and its implications will persist and likely grow with aging populations. It is important to consider using novel targeted interventions to address this common problem affecting most communities. This session will discuss strategies for psychotropic titration, deprescribing, and treatment optimization, implementing the Woodard five-step deprescribing framework. Participants will discover actionable non-pharmacological interventions to address the most common behavioral issues affecting residents. Participants will become familiar with a shared decision-making approach to implement systematic strategies for deprescribing and managing behavioral manifestations using non-pharmacological interventions.Presenters

About the Presenter
Dr. Karla Pena Rosa is a licensed clinical psychologist, specialized in geriatrics. She received her Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology from Carlos Albizu University, in 2012. Karla has over ten years of experience in the behavioral health field as a clinical psychologist, business owner, trainer, and clinical/life coach. She currently serves Huntingdon Behavioral Health management team spearheading leadership initiatives to ensure behavioral health providers employed by Huntingdon are building skills to serve the specific demands of serving LTC facilities.Michelle King
