Session 5 | The Cost of “Not Yet”
Time: 8:00 to 9:30 a.m.
Type/Topic: Leadership/Workforce
Session Summary
Delayed decisions can quietly become leadership problems, especially in health care where inaction impacts culture, trust, recruitment, advocacy and public perception. In this practical, story-driven session, Peter Murphy Lewis, host of the People Worth Caring About documentary series, draws from his unique career in television, documentaries and healthcare storytelling to help leaders identify the hidden fears behind phrases like “we’re not ready yet,” “we need more buy-in,” or “let’s revisit this next quarter.” Attendees will work through leadership, culture, recruitment, advocacy or storytelling challenges by identifying what they fear, how to reduce the risk, and how to repair the outcome if that fear comes true. Participants will leave with a completed worksheet, a clearer understanding of the decision they may be avoiding, and a practical framework to help themselves and their teams move forward with courage, structure and purpose.

About the Presenter
Peter Murphy Lewis is a television host, documentary producer, fractional CMO, and founder of Strategic Pete. He has filmed more than 100 jobs across industries, including everything from cleaning windows high above the ground to performing stand-up comedy on television for the first time.
His healthcare documentary series People Worth Caring About was built around a simple belief: the people doing the hardest, most human work are often the least seen.
In this session, Peter brings that same lens to leadership. He helps executives examine what they are avoiding, what it is costing them, and what becomes possible when they stop letting fear quietly run the meeting.
