Session Summary

Person-centered memory care programming is imperative when caring for residents with cognitive impairment. The goal of making a positive impact to support quality of care through memory care programming is a focus of CMS rules/regulations intent and practical implementation. Through individual resident assessment and evaluation, the interdisciplinary team will provide care for residents living with cognitive impairment in a person-centered environment, which is necessary to a high quality of life with meaningful relationships and engagement.

Eddie Broom

Director of Human Services & Sr. Accreditation Coach | RB Health Partners, Inc.

About the Presenter

Eddie serves as our Director of Human Services & Sr. Accreditation Coach. Eddie works in Quality Improvement, focusing on Joint Commission Accreditation. Eddie has worked at RB Health Partners, Inc. for over 7 years, and has over 20 years of experience in the healthcare profession spanning social services through administration. Eddie is a Certified Dementia Specialist, DOEA approved Dementia Trainer and is skilled in staff and team development, systematic process management, long-term care facility operation, and much more. Mr. Broom has an undergraduate degree in Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and a master’s degree in social work from Florida State University. He is also ALF Core trained and has been a successful Administrator of Standard facilities with Memory Care and Extended Congregate Care (ECC) licensed services. Mr. Broom has also served as a caregiver support group facilitator for the Alzheimer’s organization. When not working, Mr. Broom enjoys spending time with his wife Kim, his children, and his beautiful redheaded granddaughter. He also enjoys music, playing piano and singing.

Anabelle Locsin

About the Presenter

Anabelle Locsin has worked in the nursing profession for over 53 years in various universities and health care settings. Mrs. Locsin completed her degrees from Silliman University in the Philippines, her BSN, Master of Arts in Nursing, and her doctorate in Educational Administration. She has various experiences as an Asst. Professor in Colleges of Nursing. She first came to New York in 1985 and worked for the Hebrew Home of the Aged in Riverdale, Bronx. She worked as a staff nurse for a year and then was promoted to a Nurse Manager position, after passing the state board. She assisted in opening the first dementia unit in New York City.

Jennifer Landis

About the Presenter

Jennifer Landis brings over 40 years of long-term care experience to RB Health Partners, Inc. Ms. Landis began her career as a volunteer in a local nursing facility, where she then moved into the role of nursing assistant. Realizing her desire to work in long-term care, she continued her training at Indiana State University, where she received a BS degree in Sociology with a concentration in Long-Term-Health-Care Administration. After college, Ms. Landis worked as an Activities Director, Marketing Director, and Social Worker before tying it all together as a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator. During Ms. Landis’ twenty-six-year career as a Nursing Home Administrator, she successfully oversaw the opening of two skilled nursing facilities. Along with navigating the state regulations and guidelines for initial licensure, she also initiated and maintained Joint Commission Accreditation. In her most recent position as Executive Director for Life Care Centers of America, she was recognized with the President’s Award and the Facility of The Year Award. In 2019, Ms. Landis was recognized by the American College of Health Care Administrators with the Eli Pick Facility Leadership Award. Ms. Landis has been an active member of the Florida Health Care Association, serving as a district president, and has worked with local and state legislative members to garner support for programming that assists our long-term-care population. During her downtime, Ms. Landis can be found spending time with her family or reading a good book.
