Session 17 | Infection Prevention and Hospital Readmissions, What’s the Impact?

Day: Monday, July 14
Time: 12:15 to 1:15 p.m.
Type/Topic: Operations/Regulatory/Legal Compliance
Room Location: Windermere X

Session Summary

Residents may be readmitted to the hospital due to infection, and striving to prevent these infections may help decrease hospital readmissions. One of the Medicare-Fee-For-Service Claims-Based Measures for the SNF Quality Reporting Program (QRP) includes SNF healthcare-associated infections (HAI) requiring hospitalization. This session will identify key metrics that can be used to evaluate the impact of your infection prevention program, prevention strategies beyond the basics for certain types of infections, and the role of infection prevention in quality improvement programs.
