Session Summary
This six (6) hour Preceptor Training meets the requirements of 64B10-16.0025(2), FAC. This session will be an interactive training program to qualify attendees to become preceptors and help shape the careers of new long term care administrators. Additional registration fees are required for this program. Lunch is included.

About the Presenter
Deborah Franklin is the Senior Director of Quality Affairs for the Florida Health Care Association. Deborah has a Masters of Health Administration and is a nursing home administrator with over thirty years in long term care sector. Deborah is responsible for leading the Association's internal quality department while pioneering initiatives on quality improvement in long term care. She works in conjunction with the association's Board of Directors, Quality Cabinet and associated committees to develop, plan and implement long term care quality and educational programs to support members with their pursuit of providing high-quality, person-centered care. Additionally, Deborah is the key liaison with the executive and legislative branches, state and federal health care agencies on long term care survey and regulatory issues.
Caridad Smith

About the Presenter
Cary Smith, NHA is the President and CEO of Orion Post Acute Care Consultants. Mrs. Smith has served as the Chief Operating Officer for AdventHealth in the Post Acute and SNF division for the last 16 years and as President and Vice-President of Operations in various organizations in the last 30 years. She is a graduate of Southern Adventist University in Collegedale, TN with a degree in Long-term Care Administration. Mrs. Smith has been a licensed nursing home administrator since 1989 in various States including Florida. Her breadth of experience in long-term care includes operations, regulatory compliance, marketing, customer service, training, program development and consulting. As part of her commitment to education and training, she conducts seminars and workshops for facility leaders and managers. She brings to her jobs great passion and commitment to the aging population and the Long-term Care industry. Throughout her career, Mrs. Smith has developed various specialty care units and programs such as orthopedic, cardiac, respiratory and complex care units. Some of her latest training focuses on long-term care leadership, census development and marketing, customer service, AI in Long-term Care, reducing hospital re-admissions and implementation of QAPI programs among others.
Vernon Zeger

About the Presenter
Vern Zeger has been in long term care as a leader since 1997. He has led teams to receive Baldridge Quality awards, five star ratings and small business of the year for the community. Vern is Chair of the Survey and Regulatory Committee and has been actively engaged in FHCA as a board member, district president and other committees as needed. Vern has impacted many nursing home administrators as a mentor and preceptor.
Susan Anderson
Director of Regulatory Affairs | Florida Health Care Association
About the Presenter
Susan Anderson currently serves as the Director of Regulatory Affairs for Florida Health Care Association. In this position, she concentrates on supporting the legislative, regulatory, and policy activities on behalf of association members for nursing centers and assisted living facilities. Ms. Anderson has experience in seniors housing and in developing public policy positions and advising on regulatory compliance. Ms. Anderson is an active member of the Florida Bar.
