Session Summary
Today we all face additional regulations and compliance expectations with schizophrenia audits and the reduction of antipsychotics and anti-anxiety medication usage. This session will share an approach to achieving compliance and managing behaviors effectively without sacrificing patient care. We will review what we have learned in the first year of the regulation updates and how to improve on psychiatric care delivery.

Joy Herring is a Post-Acute Care Nurse with over 25 years of experience in MDS, clinical reimbursement, regulatory compliance, and nursing informatics. She is committed to improving patient care quality and establishing an environment where policies, regulatory compliance, and continuous quality improvement initiatives drive excellence in patient outcomes. Dr. Herring specializes in RAI process optimization, system analysis, and leveraging data analytics to improve clinical and financial outcomes. She is recognized for her collaborative leadership and her ability to transform complex data into actionable insights that support quality improvement and operational efficiency. She holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice and a Master of Science in Nursing Informatics from Chamberlain University.

About the Presenter
Dr. Rick Foley is the lead director of clinical account management for Omnicare with over 30 years experience in the post-acute long term care market. He received his PharmD degree from the University of Florida College of Pharmacy in 1999. He is board-certified in geriatrics and is a Fellow of ASCP. He was a clinical professor of Geriatrics at the University of Florida College of Pharmacy for eight years and served three terms on the Florida Medicaid P&T Committee. He served on the Board of Directors for the Florida Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care (FMDA) from 2016 to 2021 and was the first pharmacist recipient of the FMDA Quality Champion award.
