Session 49 | Understanding SNF Consolidated Billing

Day: Wednesday, July 29
Time: 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.
Type/Topic: Finance and Reimbursement

Session Summary

Consolidated billing impacts every stage of a skilled nursing facility (SNF) stay, from admission through discharge. However, it remains one of the most misunderstood and financially risky processes. Providers often bill SNFs incorrectly, while facilities struggle to interpret guidelines, resolve errors, and communicate expectations across care partners. This session will provide practical guidance on screening Part A claims, identifying statutory and scenario-based exclusions, navigating fee schedules, meeting Medicare's arrangement requirements, and resolving denied or recouped claims. Attendees will gain the knowledge to prevent billing errors, ensure compliance, strengthen provider relationships, and reduce unnecessary costs by correctly managing bundled and excluded services.
